July 4 in Florida: NAGA U.S. Open Grappling Championship
On Saturday, July 4th, 2009 the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) makes its debut at Walt Disney World for it’s first ever U.S. Open Grappling Championship. The U.S. Open Martial Arts Festival at Disney is the world’s largest martial arts event with a variety of competitions taking place that day. The NAGA grappling competition, which is part of the U.S. Open festival, will have its own dedicated area, the Fiesta Ballroom. This ballroom is enormous with ample spectator seating surrounding each ring. This NAGA event is open to all grappling styles and competitors, you do not need to be on a team or be a member of any organization to compete. NAGA welcomes both individuals and teams to compete. This event is nationally RANKED and is sanctioned by the ISKA as its annual World Championship. For years the U.S. Open has been THE family summer destination for martial artists. ABSOLUTE DIVISION FINAL MATCHES ON TELEVISION
The final matches of the Men’s & Women’s Absolute No-Gi Divisions will take place on Saturday evening in front of 3,000 martial arts fans in the Coronado Ballroom. For the past 11 years the Saturday evening Night of Champions has been broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN International. These Absolute Grappling finals will be part of the Night of Champions.
SAMURAI SWORDS TO ALL 1ST PLACE WINNERS
NAGA will be handing out custom engraved SAMURAI SWORDS to ALL children, teen, adult, master, director & executive Gi & No-Gi 1st place winners! All 2nd and 3rd place winners will take home beautiful octagon medals. All children regardless if they place (1st through 3rd) will receive a medal just for having the courage to compete!
