April 29 in California: San Fernando Valley Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships
While advantage points are a common measure of awarding competitors for attempted holds and reversals, the criteria for awarding them can be subjective and prone to error, often unfairly skewing the outcome of a match. The UFBJJ has removed advantages from its scoring system. If score is tied at the end of a match, the athlete who displayed superior offense, control, positioning and overall aggressiveness will be declared the winner.
1Competitors who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd may register to compete in the OPEN DIVISION. Competitors who desire to compete in the Open Division must report to the Head Table after they have been awarded their medal. Times for Open Registration and Open Competition Times will be published on April 26, 2012.
